The Basics

How Fresh Apple Cider Is Made:

Getting Fruit

We start by trucking in loads of apples from Oregon and Washington locations. The Fruit is inspected by our drivers first even before it is loaded onto our trucks. When the fruit arrives at Hood River Juice Company it is inspected again, this time by our plant Forman to make sure that it meets our standards before it is unloaded from the truck. Once the fruit has made it off the truck the cider making begins.

Lets make cider

The fruit is first washed and then hand sorted so that only the best apples make it into our juice. After the apples have been washed and sorted they are put through a scrubber, this is used to make sure the apples are completely clean. The next step is to cut the apples into small pieces for the press. From here the apples are put into the press and squeezed. After the apples have been squeezed the juice is filtered and sent to mixing tanks to be mixed with other types of apples to make our blend. The juices are then flash pasteurized, cooled to refrigerated temperatures, and bottled. We can bottle our juice in pints, half gallons, and gallons. Once we have it in bottles it is boxed into cases, put onto pallets, and placed into cold storage to be shipped. Our juice is normally shipped within a day of the time it is pressed to make sure you receive only the freshest product.  For more information please Contact Us.
