Elstar:  Good all purpose apple. Great for snacking as it retains it flavor; also makes great applesauce. Cream colored flesh is firm and flavor is sweet-tart. Medium to large size. Appearance is bright red and yellow.

Fuji:  Its appeal is its low-acid sweetness combined with juicy firm-fleshed crispiness and warm aroma. It keeps longer than most other varieties at room temperature. The characteristic color includes a pink stripe, but high-coloring Fuji strains are now available that are closer to red all over.

Gala:  Galas are noted for their eating quality out of hand. It is a relatively early apple that has a snappy zest over a mellow sweetness. Its yellowish, juicy flesh is very firm.
