In 1970, Albert Lawrence Ryan purchased approximately 32 acres of fertile farm land on the West Side of the beautiful Hood River Valley.
As the opportunity presented itself, Mr. Ryan began packing apples from his orchard and for a few other growers. This continued for 9 years, when a fire destroyed the packing shed. After a year to rebuild, Ryan Orchards resumed packing in 1980 and continued to operate a small cold-storage unit. Today Ryan Orchards has blossomed into what is now known as the Hood River Juice Company being incorporated in 2000 and owned and operated by David Ryan. No longer working with only the fruit provided from their private orchard, Hood River Juice Company buys choice, quality fruit from various growers to bring the consumer the absolute best product on the market.
Part of the success at Hood River Juice Company comes from the ability to custom blend our products. Whether your preferences are for a tart taste or if you desire a sweeter juice, Hood River Juice Company can select from over 50 different varieties of apples to make a custom blended juice unique to your tastes. In addition, our product is "Flash Pasteurized" for the assurance and safety of our consumers.
How Do We Do It?
"Flash Pasteurization" is the type of cycle we use. We heat the juice to 180°F for 38
seconds and then rapidly cool it to 32°F. It is then packed immediately and
maintained in a 32°F cold storage until ready for shipment. For more information on
